MIMA Christmas Party

We have been honored to work with the children of MIMA, a women’s ministry run by Jeaneth, a Nicaraguan woman who responded to a need in her neighborhood. Children in her barrio often end up on the streets, working as drug dealers or prostitutes. Our SERVE students have partnered with her to teach life skills, English, and computer skills to these children and give them a chance to earn a job and not enter a life on the streets. We enjoy this work as we share the gospel, knowing that a relationship with God will strengthen and encourage these children as they face the challenges and temptations in their home lives and barrio.

For Christmas, we had the opportunity to host a party on our school’s campus for 29 of the MIMA children. We had pizza, homemade treats, and drinks. We also watched A Charlie Brown Christmas with popcorn. At the end of the party, each child had one gift to open. The children were so excited, and the smiles on their faces demonstrated how special they felt to have a gift of their own and to have so much affection shown to them. Our prayer is that they continue to experience God’s love as we continue to work with them in 2018.
